A Thanksgiving Thought

Well, tomorrow is national “wear expandable pants” day.  Otherwise known as Thanksgiving. It’s a day associated with parades, family, the biggest meal of the year, football and sadly now includes shopping. Most of us look forward to the feast that is bigger than our stomachs can handle.  Oh, we’ll give it a valiant try, but there is so much good food that we end up more stuffed than the turkey!

Here’s the downside of that delectable feast.  We often are so stuffed we feel miserable the rest of the day.  It’s really not good for us to be that filled with anything, even a glorious Thanksgiving dinner.

However, there is one thing that is GOOD to get stuffed on. The love of Christ. Look at Ephesians 3:17-21

Ephesians 3:17–21 (NASB95) — 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

So, while you spend time overeating and stuffing yourself, contemplate this much healthier alternative.  Give thanks to God for what he has given you.

Have a super Thanksgiving everyone!
